JOB SUMMARY

The Scheduling and Planning Lead is responsible for preparation and maintenance of project schedules across the organization, including new construction and repair projects. This position will work closely with Engineering, Purchasing and Production to identify and track resourcing needs and help establish work planning. Reporting to the CFO, the Lead will also be responsible for tracking performance data against plan and help identify opportunities for recovery as necessary.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Create and maintain project schedules and assist in driving organizational activities to those schedules.
  • Helps plan the sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, testing and other operations within production.
  • Work with supervisors to establish and plan near-term and long-term priorities.
  • Work with Burger leaders from all departments to assure universal and thorough understanding of each project schedule so that engineering work and drawings, material purchasing, production work and all other deliverables align with the master schedule of each project.
  • Using project schedules, establish resource plans throughout the organization.
  • Assist business development with new project schedules, resource estimation, and availability planning.
  • Work closely with program management to track and report performance metrics
  • Adhere to scheduling and resource planning standards.
  • Act as a focal point for communication both internally and externally on schedule related information of both customers and stakeholders.


EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in scheduling and planning in a manufacturing environment.
  • Shipyard new construction, repair and refit experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the following preferred
    • All common MS Office applications, with emphasis on spreadsheet analysis and graphing
    • Scheduling software, specifically MS Project or similar
    • Earned Value Management
    • LEAN manufacturing theory
    • ERP systems

  • Excellent ability to work in a “team” environment and share knowledge of discipline specific work in both a vertical (up and down the org chart) and horizontal (across disciplines and departments) orientation.
  • Ability to make well-formed, rational decisions and demonstrate problem-solving skills within organizational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and written skills.
  • This position has no direct reports.

Possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing positively and effectively with employees, co-workers, suppliers and vendors.


EDUCATION

A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field is preferred.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time while operating a computer with occasional light lifting. Position also required regular visits to the Shipyard with climbing of stairs and inspection of items in fairly tight spaces.
