JOB SUMMARY

Assist in researching and implementing recruitment strategies to attract qualified and capable talent for the company. Ensure excellent communication through tracking and follow-through with all applicants. Implement employee engagement and retention processes and practices.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with job posting and applicant communication.
  • Perform searches for qualified job candidates using computer databases, networking, internet recruiting resources, media advertisements, job fairs, industry and trade associations, marine-specific trade pools, marine technical schools, recruiting firms, and employee referrals.
  • Actively engage in career/hiring fairs and recruiting sessions.
  • Screen applications and select qualified candidates. Contact all applicants to inform them the status of their applications.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to utilize social media outlets for recruiting and advertising.
  • Measure social media performance for recruiting.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update employment records continuously.
  • Handle and prioritize multiple ranges of advanced administrative duties with wide latitude for independent judgment and initiative.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Conduct new associate onboarding and orientations.
  • Develop and modify the existing hiring process (as may be needed occasionally), starting from the requisition for new associates’ phase through tracking and measuring the hiring process performance by department. Provide weekly progress updates of all activities relating to recruiting activities.

POSITION IN ORGANIZATION

This position reports directly to the president. This position has no direct reports.

Must demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Must demonstrate great listening, speaking, and teaching skills. Must be proficient and comfortable using Microsoft Office, phones, email, online meeting platforms, and other communication tools. Must demonstrate strong interviewing skills with an all-pervasive positive attitude while maintaining confidentiality.


EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business field preferred. May consider applicants with associate degrees and equivalent work experience in recruitment or related fields.


ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of human resource policies and best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, professional, and organized.
  • Conduct background checks and behavior assessments when necessary.
  • Previous experience using ADP payroll software is beneficial.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to sit in a normal position for extended periods while operating a computer with occasional light lifting. Sometimes, walking and climbing stairs will be necessary during visits with associates. The work also requires occasional travel to events to represent the company.
