Burger recognizes campaign to emphasize commitment to safety
MANITOWOC, Wis. – Burger Boat Company is proud to announce it is kicking off its recognition of National Safe Boating Week with Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day on Friday, May 21, 2021. Burger is joining boating professionals and outdoor enthusiasts in calling for heightened awareness of the importance of wearing life jackets while boating.
The annual Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day is hosted by the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) and adds a fun, educational element to National Safe Boating Week, which runs from May 22 – 28, 2021. Educating the boating public about the safety and comfort of life jackets is a main focus of the 2021 Safe Boating campaign. The yearlong campaign promotes the value of voluntary, consistent life jacket wearing by recreational boaters.

The National Safe Boating Council is asking all participants in Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day to take a picture of themselves in their life jacket while at work and to share it on social media using #lifejacketatwork, or send the photo directly to the NSBC at outreach@safeboatingcouncil.org.
U.S. Coast Guard statistics show that drowning was the reported cause of death in four out of every five recreational boating fatalities, and that 86 percent of those who drowned were not wearing life jackets. New life jackets are much more comfortable, lightweight, and stylish than the bulky orange style most boaters know. There are innovative options, such as inflatable life jackets, allowing mobility and flexibility for activities like boating, fishing, paddling, or hunting, and are much cooler in the warmer weather.
